The story is based around a empire that punishes convicts using a "sacred fire"... The punishment is handed out by the royal family itself, the only people who carry the Sacred Flame in their blood.

Alpha (red headed swordsman) is a young assassin for hire... He gets an order from a man named "The Burned One" to kidnap the princess of the royal family. He became an assassin after his mother and father were executed for treason...

The pale haired girl next to him is princess Miura, she carries the power of the sacred flame... After being kidnapped by Alpha, she tries to befriend them on their travels back to Alpha's mysterious employer...

Along the way, they meet a mischevious, fun loving young boy named Cid, he is technologically gifted and is currently working on a machine called an airship... He agrees to go along with Alpha and Miura because he wants to steal the reward money that Alpha is to recieve...

Lastly, the big villian is a man mainly known as "The Burned One". Two years ago, he was nearly burned alive for a crime he did not commit. Now, he has employed a assassin for hire to bring him the princess of the royal family, with her power, he plans to return the favor...
